Brickfish was a startup that provided social media marketing campaigns for high-profile clients such as Coach, Kodak, and Nike, primarily focusing on Facebook, but also including other social media platforms of the time. Integrating with Facebook in its early days presented significant challenges due to the evolving and immature APIs and tools. I was brought in to manage the substantial volume of data generated by these campaigns—so much data, in fact, that one of our SQL Server database tables contained over a million rows, making reporting very difficult. To address this, I implemented a hypercube using MS OLAP Server (Analysis Services), which greatly improved reporting performance. Though my time at the company was brief (six months) it had a lasting impact. Unfortunately, the company faced funding challenges, which ultimately led to my departure.
